Dr. Azen graduated from Atma Jaya Catholic University and completed training as an Emergency and Intensive junior physician at Central Army Hospital Jakarta. Between 1982 and 1987, he worked as a primary physician to cover the local community health needs deep in the remote rural areas of West Kalimantan.
Following on from this he continued his Obstetrics and Gynaecology studies with a residency at the University of Zagreb and finished his Masters degree of Ultrasound in Clinical Medicine in 1992. On returning to Indonesia, he spent 22 years at the Maternal Fetal Division Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Indonesia.
He was involved in socializing Ultrasound in OBGYN field starting 1992, and conducted as a head of Ultrasound Section 2003 – 2009 of Indonesian Society of OBGYN.
He has been a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) since 1995 and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG) since 1991. He was appointed as Indonesian Director of Ian Donald Interuniversity School of Ultrasound in 2003.
He is currently working as a practicing OB/GYN doctor with particular focus on referral patients experiencing problems with their pregnancies.
Travelling with his family is his most favorite hobby and swimming twice a week is his routine physical exercise.
